La Canícula

ongoing

“La canícula” refers to the dog days of summer from early July to late august. coined in south texas, the phrase followed me each summer as temperatures hit the 90s.

The mexican folktale goes—people and animals become ‘sun-crazed’ during this period and we are cautioned to defer any big life decisions or changes during this time.

As the country begins to face raising temperatures and tensions: this series highlights the vivacity of summer’s peak along with the disorientation that comes with it.
